Comme des Garçons Homme Plus is Rei Kawakubo's principal menswear runway line, launched in 1984 and shown in Paris every season. It starts from the suit and takes it apart: jackets split, folded back or hollowed out to expose their internal structure, trousers cut wide or curved, shirting layered under harnesses and vests, knitwear and coats worked in lamé, vinyl, sequins and patchworked tartan. Black dominates, punctuated by grey, red or pastel camouflage depending on the season, and the tailoring is always precise beneath the distortion. Footwear collaborations run throughout, George Cox creepers, Nike and Mexicana among them, plus a full-grain leather Air Jordan 11 this autumn.
