Comme des Garçons Homme
Comme des Garçons Homme was the house's first menswear line, launched in 1978 under the ethos "good sense, good quality," and since 2004 it has been overseen by Junya Watanabe's design team rather than Rei Kawakubo herself. It is the most wearable corner of the CDG menswear family: soft unstructured blazers, wool and cotton trousers, striped and checked shirting, crewneck knitwear and chore-cut jackets. The interest is in the making, patchworked and spliced panels, unusual dye and wash treatments, Japanese wools and cottons combined in ways that only register up close. Classic at a distance, quietly unorthodox in the hand.
