HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE SS25: A WIND-BORNE ODYSSEY

At Paris Fashion Week, HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE unveiled its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, "Up, Up, and Away," a poetic exploration of wind's transformative power. Departing from its usual performance-driven presentations, the show focused solely on garments that seemed to breathe and move with the air.
The collection featured innovative series like "KITE," with adjustable silhouettes mimicking kites in flight, and "WINDSWEPT PLAID," showcasing distorted tartan prints capturing the chaos of wind-tossed fabric. Lightweight, sheer textiles and voluminous silhouettes emphasized movement and ease, with standout pieces like a vivid cobalt-blue hooded coat billowing like a cape.
Functional elements inspired by parachutes, such as concealed belts and harness-like straps, added adaptability. The color palette blended earthy neutrals with bursts of citrus orange, sky blue, and grass green, reinforcing the theme of spontaneity and renewal.
"Up, Up, and Away" redefined pleating technology as a medium for kinetic freedom, embodying Issey Miyake's legacy of combining technical innovation with artistic expression.
